Introduction

Hubei Provincial Museum was established in 1953. It is the most important collection, collection, display, exhibition, publicity and education institution of cultural relics in the province. It is also the research center of archaeological exploration, excavation and cultural relics protection. It is one of the eight national key Museums jointly built by the state-level Museum, the central government and the local government. Hubei Provincial Museum is located in the beautiful East Lake, covering an area of 123 mu, with a building area of more than 50000 square meters. The main building is in the shape of "product". Hubei Provincial Institute of cultural relics and archaeology, separated from Hubei Provincial Museum in 1989, has become an independent legal entity subordinate to Hubei Provincial Department of culture. It has the qualification of leader of archaeological excavation group recognized by the State Administration of cultural relics. Under the leadership of Hubei Provincial Department of culture (bureau of cultural relics), it is mainly responsible for the protection of cultural relics, archaeological excavation and other work in Hubei Province, and undertakes the cooperation with the University For the protection of cultural relics and the tasks of archaeological investigation, exploration and excavation in medium-sized capital construction, we should organize the compilation of archaeological reports and carry out scientific research. In 2002, Hubei Provincial Museum and Hubei Provincial Institute of cultural relics and Archaeology were merged.

At present, Hubei Provincial Museum has more than 240000 collections and nearly 1000 national first-class cultural relics. The prehistoric pottery represented by Qujialing culture and Shijiahe culture, the bronzes represented by Panlong city and Zeng Houyi tomb, a large number of lacquerware unearthed from Chu tomb to Han tomb in the middle of spring and Autumn period, a large number of bamboo slips unearthed from Zeng Houyi tomb, Guodian tomb, Wangshan tomb, Baoshan tomb and Yunmeng tomb, and the vassal relics unearthed from Liangzhuang tomb and Yingjing tomb are the most distinctive, which are the representatives of cultural relics in the collection. Among them, Yunxian human skull fossil, Yuewang Goujian sword, Zeng Houyi chime bell and Yuan Dynasty blue and white four love picture plum vase are known as the four "treasures of the town hall" of Hubei Provincial Museum.

At present, Hubei Provincial Museum has ten basic exhibitions, such as Chu culture exhibition, Tomb of marquis Zeng Yi, Tomb of King Liang Zhuang, treasure of Zhenghe era, etc., and more than ten temporary exhibitions are introduced every year to meet the needs of the audience.

As an extension of the exhibition, chime music and dance are unique and popular with the audience. The chime Orchestra of Hubei Provincial Museum, with a complete set of chimes and chimes of Zeng Houyi as its core, combines copies of various unearthed ancient musical instruments to represent the grand occasion of ancient palace singing and dancing on today's art stage.

In foreign cultural exchanges, Hubei Provincial Museum has also made positive contributions. For a long time, the fine collections have been exhibited around the world to show the profound Chinese culture to people all over the world.

In November 2007, Hubei Provincial Museum took the lead in opening to the society permanently and free of charge, which had a wide range of social impact.

In December 2011, the third phase reconstruction and expansion project of Hubei Provincial Museum was launched. After the completion of the third phase of the project, the building area of Hubei museum will reach 110000 square meters, and the exhibition area will be about 30000 square meters. It will become a collection and storage, display and performance, scientific research, technical protection, educational consultation and other functions, as well as books, film and television screening, shopping and catering, leisure and play and other functions. It has a distinctive style of the times and the presence of Jingchu culture The modern and comprehensive national first-class museum will create a cultural window and landmark cultural tourist attraction with distinctive regional cultural characteristics in Hubei Province and Wuhan city.
