INTRODUCTION

N-type crystalline silicon solar cells have the advantages of high minority carrier life, no light attenuation, good weak light effect, small temperature coefficient, etc., which is the hope for the crystalline silicon solar cells to move towards the highest theoretical efficiency. Itrpv 2018 predicts that the market share of n-type silicon wafer will continue to increase, nearly 10% in 2020 and 28% in 2028. N-type crystalline silicon battery mainly includes n-pert / n-perl battery, interdigital back contact battery (IBC) and heterojunction battery. In August 2017, the HBC battery efficiency of Kaneka company in Japan reached a record 26.63% by using heterojunction and back contact technology.

The n-pert and n-perl batteries have simple structure, great potential for efficiency improvement, and can generate electricity from both sides. Zhonglai, Yingli and Linyang have realized the mass production of n-type single crystal double-sided high efficiency batteries. Passivation contact technology can greatly improve the conversion efficiency of n-type battery, which is an important development direction of n-type battery. The whole back passivation is realized by tunneling oxide layer and doping polysilicon layer on the back of the battery, and the muon can penetrate the two passivation layers without opening the hole, avoiding the damage of silicon material at the opening and the combination of metal contact area. In May 2018, China Lilai signed a contract with state power investment Huanghe hydropower Co., Ltd. to deliver a total of 5GW n-type single crystal double faced TOPCON batteries in 2019-2021.

Heterojunction battery has a series of advantages, such as high energy conversion efficiency, simple low-temperature manufacturing process, thin silicon application, low temperature coefficient and CTM, and double-sided power generation. The key to low-cost mass production of heterojunction battery lies in the localization of equipment, the improvement of yield and production capacity, and the reduction of the cost of silicon wafer, low-temperature silver paste, TCO target and cleaning down chemicals. Fujian Jinshi energy, Jinneng and CIIC power have realized the mass production of heterojunction batteries. In 2018, Tongwei, Aikang, rainbow and other enterprises started to build new capacity of heterojunction battery.

The p-n junction and electrode of IBC battery are all on the back side, completely eliminating the shading of the front surface grid line, and the average mass production efficiency can reach 23%. However, IBC batteries require high quality silicon wafer, and the process is relatively complex, so the cost is high. Industrial technologies such as screen printing, tube diffusion or ion implantation are used to reduce the cost of IBC batteries, and passivation contact technology is used to improve the efficiency of IBC batteries. At the beginning of 2018, Trina Solar's 6-inch IBC battery achieved a full area efficiency of up to 25.04%. In August 2018, the 200MW IBC battery and component project of Huanghe hydropower was officially started.
