Background of the event
Against the backdrop of the current deepening of the "dual carbon" strategy and the accelerated construction of a new pattern of energy security, nuclear energy, as a strategic high-tech industry with both base load power guarantee and zero carbon energy attributes, has played a role far beyond a single energy option. It is not only the core cornerstone for ensuring national energy independence and security, getting rid of external dependence, but also the key engine for driving the green upgrading of the industrial system, seizing the high ground of technological competition, and cultivating new quality productivity.
Facing the "15th Five Year Plan", China's nuclear energy industry is experiencing a historic leap from "scale catching up" to "technology leading", and from "single power" to "diversified applications". In this process, Shanghai shoulders the mission of being a national strategic pioneer, and is taking the "Shanghai High Quality Development Action Plan for Nuclear Power Industry" as a blueprint to build a global nuclear energy innovation source and industry leading zone that integrates basic research, technological breakthroughs, high-end manufacturing, and diversified applications. The goal is to create an independent, controllable, safe, and reliable industrial chain supply chain, accelerate the formation of a world-class nuclear energy industry innovation ecosystem of "basic research, technological breakthroughs, achievement transformation, and industry synergy".
In order to seize the opportunity of the beginning of the 15th Five Year Plan and fully demonstrate the innovation strength and system advantages of Shanghai and China's nuclear energy industry chain on a global scale, the "2026 Shanghai International Nuclear Energy Industry Expo" jointly hosted by Zhongguancun Smart Industry Alliance and relevant units will hold the "2026 Shanghai Nuclear Energy Sustainable Development Conference" (hereinafter referred to as the conference) at the same time, which will be held at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center from July 22 to 24, 2026. This expo is not only an important practical carrier for Shanghai to serve the national nuclear energy strategy, but also a key dialogue window for China's nuclear energy industry to open up to the world.
