As the world's largest starch producer, China's annual output has exceeded 30 million tons, continuing to lead the industry's development. Driven by market demand, the industry has achieved product diversification through process upgrades, successfully developing functional raw materials such as resistant starch and slow digesting starch, and extending their application scenarios from traditional food processing to high-end fields such as biodegradable materials and pharmaceutical carriers.

It is worth noting that sustainable development has become the main line of industrial upgrading: leading enterprises have built a "corn starch sugar biobased material" cycle model, and carbon emission intensity has decreased by 18% compared to five years ago; Policies such as the 14th Five Year Plan for the Development of Bioeconomy include starch based new materials in strategic emerging industries. On the consumer side, the Healthy China initiative has generated new demands for low GI foods and other products, driving the penetration rate of starch deep processed products to exceed 65%, forming a growth pattern of traditional upgrading and emerging demand in parallel. The current industry is responding to the challenges of raw material fluctuations through technological innovation and continuously strengthening global competitiveness.

On June 15-17, 2026, the Shanghai International Starch and Starch Derivatives Exhibition will once again kick off at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center.
