Urban furniture creates a harmonious environment between people and the city
Urban furniture, as an important part of urban landscape, not only plays a functional role, but also reflects its decorative and imaginative qualities. The creativity and visual imagery of urban furniture directly affect the overall quality of urban spatial planning. These facilities are closely related to public life, inseparable from the urban landscape, and faithfully reflect the economic and cultural level of a city. Creating and planning urban furniture to restore the public, service-oriented, and livable nature of urban public spaces is becoming an important means for promoting economic development, improving public service functions, optimizing municipal facilities, and enhancing the cultural image of cities across the country.
The Chinese urban furniture market has a huge volume, with a total investment of 21.746 trillion yuan in road construction and approximately 326.19 billion yuan in urban furniture in 2019. Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing and other places are all building a number of urban furniture renovation demonstration projects, including scene development and design of various urban functional spaces such as urban transportation hubs, city squares, suburban parks, historical and cultural blocks, waterfront spaces, community micro spaces, underground spaces, cultural and creative parks, tourist attractions, etc., attracting a large amount of public budget and private capital investment. It is expected that the market size will reach trillions in the future.
The 6th Shanghai International Urban Furniture Exhibition in 2025 relies on Shanghai's cases in municipal, architectural, and environmental planning and design fields, radiating to urban public spaces, communities, transportation, public health and other service scenarios in the Yangtze River Delta and even across the country. From art design to material technology, it systematically showcases the application of the "four new technologies" of urban furniture, providing demonstration cases and product design concepts for exploring the design and development of future urban furniture.

2026 Shanghai International Urban Furniture Summit Forum
The forum will invite representative experts and scholars in the urban furniture industry to conduct cutting-edge theoretical research, design, construction, technology, management, and practical case studies on urban furniture, based on their experience in building beautiful neighborhoods. Together, they will explore the current and future development directions of Meili China's construction.
