Background of the event

Against the backdrop of the current deepening of the "dual carbon" strategy and the accelerated construction of a new pattern of energy security, nuclear energy, as a strategic high-tech industry with both base load power guarantee and zero carbon energy attributes, has played a role far beyond a single energy option. It is not only the core cornerstone for ensuring national energy independence and security, getting rid of external dependence, but also the key engine for driving the green upgrading of the industrial system, seizing the high ground of technological competition, and cultivating new quality productivity.

Facing the 15th Five Year Plan, China's nuclear energy industry is experiencing a historic leap from "catching up in scale" to "leading in technology", and from "single power" to "diversified applications". In this process, Shanghai shoulders the mission of being a national strategic pioneer, and is taking the "Shanghai Action Plan for High Quality Development of Nuclear Power Industry" as a blueprint to fully build a global nuclear energy innovation source and industry leading zone that integrates basic research, technological breakthroughs, high-end manufacturing, and diversified applications. The goal is to create an independent, controllable, safe, and reliable industrial chain supply chain, accelerate the formation of a world-class nuclear energy industry innovation ecosystem of "basic research, technological breakthroughs, achievement transformation, and industrial synergy".

In order to seize the opportunity of the beginning of the 15th Five Year Plan and fully demonstrate the innovative strength and systematic advantages of Shanghai and China's nuclear energy industry chain on a global scale, the "2026 China (Shanghai) International Nuclear Energy Industry Expo" hosted by the Zhongguancun Smart Industry Alliance has emerged. This expo is not only an important practical carrier for Shanghai to serve the national nuclear energy strategy, but also a key dialogue window for China's nuclear energy industry to open up to the world. It will focus on the dual mission of "achieving the dual carbon goals" and "ensuring energy security". By gathering top forces in global politics, industry, academia, research, application, and finance, it will concentrate on presenting new achievements and cutting-edge innovation directions in the national nuclear energy industry chain, and create an international platform that integrates technology display, achievement release, high-end dialogue, and industrial cooperation.

The planned area of this expo is 50000 square meters, with the mission of "contributing Shanghai's wisdom, showcasing Shanghai's speed, and fulfilling Shanghai's responsibilities". It will widely invite government departments, industry associations, research institutes, leading enterprises, and international institutions to participate, relying on the deep collaboration mechanism of government, industry, academia, research and application, to promote the high-quality development of nuclear energy technology and the deep integration of industrialization landing. Injecting momentum into the optimization and upgrading of the national energy structure and achieving the "dual carbon" goals, it will also provide a "Chinese solution" and inject new momentum into the coordinated development and sustainable transformation of global nuclear energy.
