The China International Eyewear Industry Exhibition was first held in Shanghai in 1985. In 1987, the exhibition was relocated to Beijing and was approved by the then Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of China (now the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China), becoming an officially recognized international exhibition for the eyewear industry. Due to the fact that the eyewear industry is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Light Industry (now the China Light Industry Federation), this exhibition has been sponsored by the ministry since that year. In 1997 (the 10th edition), the China Eyewear Association changed the English name of the China International Eyewear Industry Exhibition to "CHINA INTERNATIONAL OPTICS FAIR", demonstrating the exhibition's status both domestically and internationally, as well as the participation and support of merchants in the international eyewear industry. And the exhibition is also held regularly in Beijing every September. The exhibition has a history of 32 years until 2019. Over the past 32 years, the scale of the exhibition has been continuously expanding and increasing in terms of area, exhibitors, and visitors, which proves that the exhibition has established a solid position and influence in the industry.
