According to the information disclosed at the meeting, the biopharmaceutical and health industry cluster in Guangdong Province achieved a total revenue of 663.8 billion yuan in 2023. This achievement not only ranks among the top in the country, but also marks the province's continuous leading position in the scale of the medical device industry for many years. In addition, Guangdong Province has also cultivated multiple highly competitive industrial clusters represented by Guangzhou International Biotechnology Island, Shenzhen Pingshan National Biotechnology Industry Base, and Zhongshan Health Science and Technology Industry Base.

According to data released by the National Medical Products Administration, as of the end of 2023, Guangdong Province is in a leading position in multiple aspects such as drug production licensing, traditional Chinese medicine production, and medical device manufacturing, with the number of chemical drug production enterprises ranking second in the country. The province has already nurtured a biopharmaceutical enterprise with a revenue of over 100 billion yuan, 11 other enterprises with a revenue of over 10 billion yuan, 9 enterprises have been named individual champions, 39 enterprises have been awarded the title of national specialized, refined, special and new "little giant", and there are as many as 510 provincial-level specialized, refined, special and new enterprises.

Fully promote the construction of trillion level biopharmaceutical and health industry clusters by 2024

To accelerate the agglomeration effect of the biopharmaceutical industry, Guangdong Province has set an ambitious goal - that is, by 2027, the scale of the province's biopharmaceutical and health industry cluster will exceed one trillion yuan, and the output value of the above scale pharmaceutical industry is expected to exceed 500 billion yuan.
