The current situation of China's water-saving industry presents a positive development trend, but it still faces some challenges and problems in the implementation process, such as the lack of water-saving performance evaluation mechanism, incomplete incentive and constraint mechanism, technology and land management mode not adapting to the service system, etc. In the future, it is necessary to further improve the water-saving mechanism, enhance the technical level, optimize the service system, in order to achieve broader water-saving goals. In June 2024, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Water saving Industry", proposing that by 2027, the scale of the water saving industry will reach one trillion yuan, cultivating a group of "specialized, refined, unique, and new" and "little giant" enterprises, and initially establishing a water saving industry development pattern with enterprises as the main body, market orientation, innovation as the driving force, and the combination of industry, academia, research, and application. By 2035, cultivate a group of leading enterprises worth billions of yuan, achieve world-class levels in water-saving technology, product equipment manufacturing, and management services, and fully form a water-saving production and lifestyle. In order to achieve these goals, China will take a series of measures, including strengthening technological innovation, financial and tax support, building communication and cooperation platforms, and strengthening water-saving publicity and guidance. These measures will help promote the effective supply of water-saving products, equipment, and services, improve the level of water-saving technology, product equipment manufacturing, and management services, form a water-saving production and lifestyle, and achieve sustainable utilization of water resources and economic and social development.
