Since ancient times, Chongqing city has been said to have "many gates, many temples, temples and teahouses". Teahouses in Chongqing are all over urban and rural areas, streets and alleys. Eating tea in teahouses has become an indispensable habit in the lives of local farmers, businesses, men, women, old and young. The number of teahouses in Chongqing city can be seen from the fact that "there are 2659 teahouses in the urban area of NiuDao with a radius of less than 9 square kilometers" in Chongqing Xinmin daily in March 1947, which shows the popularity of tea drinking among Chongqing people.
Chongqing is one of the origin of tea trees in the world, with a production history of more than 3000 years. Tea trees are planted in 37 of the 40 districts (cities) and counties in the city, and 10000 tea farmers are directly engaged in tea production. The annual tea output is nearly 20000 tons and the output value is about 300 million yuan. Green tea production is the main production, accounting for 75% - 80% of the total tea output of the city.
