The Liaoning Provincial Museum is a modern large-scale comprehensive history and art museum. Its predecessor was the Northeast Museum, founded in 1949, and it was the first museum established after the founding of New China. It was renamed the Liaoning Provincial Museum in 1959.         The original site of the Liaoning Provincial Museum is located at No. 26 Shiwei Road, Heping District, Shenyang City. It was the former residence of the former warlord Tang Yulin. In 1933, the Puppet Manchurian State established the Puppet Manchurian National Museum Fengtian Branch here. In 1946, "National Museum of Antiquities, Shenyang Museum". After the liberation of Shenyang, the former Northeast People's Government Cultural Heritage Management Committee accepted the museum, and on this basis, the Northeast Museum was established on July 7, 1949, and was renamed the Liaoning Provincial Museum in 1959. The new museum of Liaoning Provincial Museum is a key construction project of Liaoning's "Ninth Five-Year Plan". It was established in 1997, started in 1998, and completed at the end of 2003. The first phase of the museum opened on November 12, 2004, and it was fully opened in June 2006. . The new building is located on the southeast side of the city government square in the center of Shenyang (No. 363, Shifu Road, Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province). It covers an area of 16,000 square meters and a total construction area of 31,095 square meters. The integrated business office building is composed of two parts, with a modern exhibition hall of 8,531 square meters and cultural and leisure facilities with complete functions and facilities. The overall appearance of the building is taken from the representative of the Neolithic Hongshan culture, which is the dawn of the 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, the jade pig dragon, which is rich in local cultural characteristics.
