Introduction

Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum is a museum of plastic arts, formerly known as the "National Art Gallery" built in 1936, and is the first national art museum in modern China. In 1956, the Jiangsu Provincial Museum of Art began to be constructed and officially opened to the public. This was also the first public museum established by the People's Republic of China. In 2006, the National Art Museum Professional Committee was established, and the Jiangsu Art Museum was elected as a governing unit. In 2010, it was selected as the first national key art museum organized by the Ministry of Culture. It has many functions such as collection, research, exhibition, fine arts and related materials, aesthetic education to the public, and international cultural exchanges. The collection of Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum is mainly based on modern and contemporary art works, as well as ancient, modern and modern Chinese and foreign. The plan is to collect the works of representative painters of the "New Jinling School" as the most important thing. There are nearly 10,000 pieces of various collections, among which Chinese paintings are the most abundant, including the Wumen School of the Ming Dynasty, the four kings of the early Qing Dynasty, the Jinling Bajia, the Yangzhou Baguai, the Maritime School, the New Jinling School, and the works of the 20th century . In addition, it has a large collection of fine art works such as prints, Chinese oil paintings, Chinese watercolors, contemporary calligraphy, folk art and so on.


        Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum has two exhibition buildings, the earliest National Art Museum (old museum) in China and the most advanced art museum (new museum) in China. The old hall and the new hall are located on Changjiang Road, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, less than 500 meters from east to west, with a total building area of 40,000 square meters.

The construction of the new hall started in 2008 with a total investment of nearly 400 million yuan, covering an area of 10,600 square meters, a building area of nearly 30,000 square meters, the number of building floors is two underground, four floors above the ground, and the building height is 24 meters. Design office design. The new hall has 7 large, medium and small exhibition halls, including 2 large exhibition halls of 1,300 square meters, and a wall height of 6.5 meters. There are 3 showcase-style showrooms and 2 digital showrooms. There are 4 constant temperature and humidity warehouses, and 1 multifunctional academic lecture hall. After the completion of the new museum, it has international standards and characteristics of the times. The standards of function setting, equipment configuration, and building decoration have reached first-class standards. It has become an important place for the collection, research, and exhibition of art in Jiangsu and even the whole country. Exchange activity center.



Pavilion size

        Covering an area of 4,700 square meters, the main building has four floors, and there are 7 exhibition halls with a total exhibition area of 2,700 square meters.
